Rustic 19th C French Elm Carpenter's Workbench / Console Table

Rustic 19th C French Elm Carpenter's Worktable / Console Table

We found this stunning late 19th C elm worktable on one of our trips to Bordeaux and just couldn’t resist. In lovely untouched condition, the top slab of elm is 5 inches thick and the vice that abuts the left leg easily moves into a vertical position (or can be removed altogether). The front legs are straight, while the back legs are canted to provide added stability and a nice design twist. Featuring its original hardware and the sensational unvarnished and worn patina that only pieces of this age display, we think it makes a fabulous console table in your front entry or library. Please note that this table weighs about 200 lbs. and the overall depth is 20.75” (16” depth for the tabletop and 4.75” for the vise on the left). It is totally solid and without any wobbles.
