Pair of French Wrought Iron Beaux Arts-Style Gates with Mounting Hardware #2
We found these gates in Provence, along with an identical, but slightly smaller pair (POR 1059) that come complete with their hinges and mounting hardware, to make installation a snap. Beautifully wrought with a curved top and loads of sensuous scrolls, these would be perfect as access gates to your side or back garden. In older green paint with some mild surface rusting, they have an ingenious fastening mechanism at the top that lifts up to open and securely fastens when you want them closed (shown in photos #5-6). Please note that in the last photo, this pair of gates is on the right, with the slightly smaller pair on the left. Priced and sold as a pair. The overall dimensions are listed below, but the gates themselves (without the mounting hardware) measure 38” wide when abutted.
Pair of French Wrought Iron Beaux Arts-Stye Gates with Mounting Hardware #1
We found these gates in Provence, along with an identical, but slightly larger pair (POR 1060) that come complete with their hinges and mounting hardware, to make installation a snap. Beautifully wrought with a curved top and loads of sensuous scrolls, these would be perfect as access gates to your side or back garden. In older green paint with some mild surface rusting, they have an ingenious fastening mechanism at the top that lifts up to open and securely fastens when you want them closed (shown in photos #7-9). Please note that in the last photo, this pair of gates is on the left, with the slightly larger set on the right. Priced and sold as a pair. The overall dimensions are listed below, but the gates themselves (without the mounting hardware) measure 31.5” wide when abutted.
Yes, we do have a thing for gates, particularly early and high-quality ones like this tall pair of hand-wrought iron gates that date to around 1830. Their size, intricate detailing, and romantic feel make them the perfect sentinels for your enclosed garden or they would look equally well mounted on stone gate piers at the entrance to your home. In excellent condition, they have no breaks, cracks, replaced parts or repairs, and presently sport slightly-chippy white paint that is perhaps 30 years old, with small bits of surface rust showing through. A latch would need to be fashioned in order to keep them closed, and they do not have hinges, but are an easy mount with pre-drilled holes near the top and bottom. If you are not keen on the white paint, they can be sandblasted and repainted to your custom specifications for a modest upcharge. Please note that the dimensions below are for the 2 pieces when they abut each other.
Pair of French Art Deco Wrought Iron Gates or Room Dividers
Originally used as balcony dividers and mounted front to back, envision these stunning Deco gates facing each other to provide the perfect frame for your garden or interior room. Handwrought of iron and with a delicate and intricate scrolling form, they remind us of butterflies or spider-webs, both appropriate themes for a garden or Art Deco home. In old, somewhat crusty black paint with a small amount of surface rusting show through, we love the old patina, but they can be sandblasted and repainted to your custom specifications for a modest upcharge. So versatile, as they can be installed abutting each other to swing open or further apart, and mounted to a wall and floor, as standing pieces of art on either side of a large entranceway. Please note the dimensions below are when the 2 pieces about each other.
Pair of 19th C French Wrought Iron Vineyard Entrance Gates from Bordeaux
These gates are absolute stunners! All hand-wrought from heavy iron and sourced from a vineyard in Bordeaux, they feature their original green paint with mild surface rusting. Their spectacular detailing and craftsmanship is evident throughout and clearly they were made by a master blacksmith. One vertical bottom bar has been straightened by our metalsmith, and he has also replaced a missing piece on the center finial. Lastly, he has re-made all six of the hinges, as four were broken or missing and the other two made of metric size that could not be matched in the US. They have a magnificent presence and would make the perfect entrance to a large garden or in front of your home. Please note that the metal restoration has resulted in the loss of some of the existing paint, but we have done our best to color-match the old paint. However, the final product does show a bit of difference between the original and touch-up paint. Alternatively, we can have them sandblasted and repainted or powder-coated to your custom specifications for an up-charge. Email us for a quote on this, please. PLEASE NOTE: the early 20th C lock-box on the gates is bent and non-functional, so it will either need to be replaced with another one or, alternatively, another less obvious closure solution can be devised and custom-made for a modest up-charge.
Large Pair of French Wrought Iron Gates with Toucans
Now these gates are real show-stoppers! French-crafted of wrought iron with welded joints, they feature a pair of toucans, one on each side. They also have an 19th C lock with its original key that actually works! We will reattach the escutcheon in Photo #5, that has come loose and also reattach a slender bar that loosened up during shipping. All in all, a spectacular pair of gates with great presence and easy to install, as each side has 3 hinge pins. Perfect for that tropical retreat! From the town of Vallauris, famous for its sunburst mirrors.
Pair of French Beaux Arts Wrought Iron and Gilt Balcony Dividers or Gates
This glorious pair of wrought iron balcony dividers were originally used at both ends of a balcony to provide privacy from neighbors. This pair, however, could also be used as swinging or fixed gates, inside or out. With their intricate design and just enough gilding to emphasize their beauty, we envision them outdoors framing the entrance to your secret garden or inside to separate two rooms or as a grand addition to an entranceway. They come complete with two original vertical mounting rails with hinge pins (shown sitting to either side of the gates) for an easy-peasy installation!
This lovely hand-wrought iron grille was not originally intended as a gate, but could easily be transformed into one with hinges by our talented blacksmith. It is in perfect structural condition, with surface rusting, and, of course, can be sandblasted and painted to your customer specifications on request. Wonderful on a wall over an outdoor fireplace, as a gate to your secret garden, or make into an outdoor coffee table.
