Pair of Very Large Handkerchief Planters Designed by Willy Guhl
The iconic Willy Guhl designed these marvelous planters in the 1960s and named them “Mouchoir” which is French for handkerchief for their resemblance to gathered, unfolded handkerchiefs. Mouchoirs were made in two sizes, large and small, and this is the larger and much more impressive of the two. The lighter-colored one had a small chip to one edge which has since been restored, and the other is in perfect, all original, condition with some residual vines to the outside. They would make quite a statement potted up with tall annuals flanking the entrance to your garden or on the deck of a contemporary beach house. Made of fiber cement, a very durable and lightweight material, these can be left outside year-round in all climates, but we recommend you empty them of dirt in harsh winter climates and keep the drain holes open. Priced and sold as a pair.
