Pair of Enormous 18th Century Covered Marble Urns from Oprah Winfrey's Personal Collection
This exceptionally rare and enormous pair of mid-18th Century covered marble urns come from Oprah Winfrey's Personal Collection and once graced her Montecito estate. Hand-carved from the finest carrara marble by a master Italian artisan in Marchese, they feature their original highly decorative lids, although one of the pineapple finials has been partially replaced. One urn base has a chip to the corner of one foot and both have several old visible repairs to their exterior that is to be expected with urns of this age. These urns are the consummate garden ornaments of the highest quality and style and will MAKE your garden or entranceway inside your home. Weighing in at around 600 pounds each, they will require a forklift or 6 strong men to place. Each has a newish stainless steel pintle that is mortared to the inside of each bowl that makes insertion into the bases very easy. Both urns are extremely solid with no wobble and can be left outside year-round in all climates, although they will continue to weather and sugar over the years if left outside. Imagine them raised up on a wall flanking the entrance to your garden or atop stone gate piers at the front of your estate. In summary, no description can adequately describe the extraordinary beauty and craftsmanship of these urns. Please note that the feet measure 13 inches x 12.75 inches.
