Pair of 19th C French Wrought Iron Vineyard Entrance Gates from Bordeaux
These gates are absolute stunners! All hand-wrought from heavy iron and sourced from a vineyard in Bordeaux, they feature their original green paint with mild surface rusting. Their spectacular detailing and craftsmanship is evident throughout and clearly they were made by a master blacksmith. One vertical bottom bar has been straightened by our metalsmith, and he has also replaced a missing piece on the center finial. Lastly, he has re-made all six of the hinges, as four were broken or missing and the other two made of metric size that could not be matched in the US. They have a magnificent presence and would make the perfect entrance to a large garden or in front of your home. Please note that the metal restoration has resulted in the loss of some of the existing paint, but we have done our best to color-match the old paint. However, the final product does show a bit of difference between the original and touch-up paint. Alternatively, we can have them sandblasted and repainted or powder-coated to your custom specifications for an up-charge. Email us for a quote on this, please. PLEASE NOTE: the early 20th C lock-box on the gates is bent and non-functional, so it will either need to be replaced with another one or, alternatively, another less obvious closure solution can be devised and custom-made for a modest up-charge.
