Pair of Large Anduze Vases, Signed Boisset, Anduze
This stunning pair of "Vase d'Anduze" are larger than most and feature a marvellous worn glaze in shades of chocolate brown, emerald green, burnt orange, and butter yellow. With the traditional swags mostly intact, there is a fair amount of chipping to the glaze, but the pots themselves are completely intact. Signed in a cartouche by the original maker of Anduze vases, Boisset, that began making these vases in the early 1600s, this pair dates to the mid-to-late 19th C (see photo #5). Perfect flanking the entrance to a garden or door, or in combination with our large single Anduze Vase (#CPO 1035), Anduze vases can be planted, although they need to be emptied and covered in cold climates.
