English 19th C Carved Grindstone
This lovely carved stone piece date from the early 19th C and has a beautifully weathered surface with minor chipping to the edges. Found in Yorkshire, it has a largely blackened surface from the coal dust accumulated over 2 centuries outside. Perfect as a pedestal for a round figure or as a mini-fountain with the water gently cascading up through the hole and over the sides of the grindstone.
England, CA 1830.
