English Carved Yorkstone Sundial with Signed 18th C Plate
This vaseform carved stone sundial in four parts is truly special. With its octagonal foot and scalloped top, the carved stone pedestal is a work of art and dates to the first half of the 19th C. It is crowned by a late 18th C bronze dial plate with original gnomon, beautifully and simply engraved by its maker, J. Whitehurst, of Derby. Perfect as a centerpiece in your rose garden, parterre, or at the end of an allée. In excellent condition overall, it has a few minor nicks and scrapes to the weathered stone surface commensurate with age.
