Classic English Hand-Carved Staddlestone
English staddlestones have become classic garden elements and lend a note of whimsy to a mixed border or woodland garden. Originally used as foundation stones to support granaries, rats were unable to climb up the stem and over the top to eat the food stores. This beauty has great weathering and lichen and will moss up nicely if put in a damp and shady location. Stem measures 14.5" x 13.5" at the base. There are a few chips and dings to the top of the staddle, but nothing to compromise the beauty or integrity of this piece.
