Pair of Tall Gothic Revival Stands in Iron and Zinc
We believe these unusual and handsome stands to be a marriage of Gothic Revival riveted wrought iron and zinc bodies with late 20th century cast iron legs, stretchers, and feet. The old wrought iron is well-worn and has thinned with minor losses in places, as evidenced in the photos, but they are structurally sound and quite heavy. The zinc decoration is generally in good condition, but there are a few pieces missing as seen in the photos. Both stands have been topped with greenish-grey slate squares that are not old and have rings from where the marble planters stood on them for years. They are easily replaced if you so desire. We like them best topped with a pair of urns, but they would also make wonderful nightstands or pedestals for sculpture or plants.
